The park city, as locals post it. We read the Chengdu field notes in our latest Xiaohongshu sweep, pulled out every place they actually named, and merged the duplicates. The local list barely overlaps the tourist one: a 23,000-like note opens "Chengdu's best places are all free" and then names eighteen parks — no pandas, no Kuanzhai Alley. We kept that spirit, picked the places with the strongest signal, and verified the details. The panda rules are in the table below, because you're going anyway.

The big sights — the official way in
Chengdu's two heavyweight sights run on official-channel tickets that trip up foreign visitors. The rules below come from the attractions' own official channels, which Kora tracks daily.

Both systems are real-name and Chinese-first; passports work in theory and jam in practice, especially inside WeChat mini-programs. Tell Kora which day you want; we handle the Chinese-only flow and send you the confirmation.
How this map is built
Each place page states how many notes mention it. Text and photos in the original notes belong to their authors — everything here is rewritten in our own words, addresses and prices are independently verified, and when a fact can't be confirmed we say so instead of inventing it. Nobody can pay to appear here: a place earns its card by being mentioned, and keeps rising by being mentioned again.

Do I really need to book the pandas in advance?
In summer, yes — same-day tickets are rare. Sales run through the official channels only (third-party resale was stopped in 2024), opening 14 days ahead. Book the earliest entry slot you can: pandas are fed in the morning and mostly sleep after noon.
Are the places on this list really free?
The parks, lakes and museum grounds all cost nothing, matching the local note they came from. Inside them, specific things ticket separately — special exhibitions at the art museums, or the observation deck at the 339 tower. Every place page states what's free and what isn't.
