Shanghai Fashion Week: how a visitor actually gets in
Every fashion capital has its week; Shanghai’s has become the one the industry watches for what’s next. Shanghai Fashion Week (上海时装周) runs twice a year — an autumn/winter season in late March and a spring/summer season in October — anchored at a show tent in Taipinghu Park, Xintiandi, with satellite venues across the city.
The October 2026 edition’s official dates hadn’t dropped when we checked in early September (they’re usually announced in late September; recent editions ran roughly the second week of October). What’s worth understanding in advance is the geography of access — because unlike Paris, real doors here are open to visitors.
The three tiers of access
| Tier | What it is | Can you get in? |
|---|---|---|
| The main tent Taipinghu Park, Xintiandi | The headline runway calendar — big Chinese brands, invited buyers and press | Industry/invitation only |
| Labelhood (蕾虎) Suzhou Creek venues | The pioneer-designer festival — the launchpad of nearly every young Chinese label that made it abroad (Shushu/Tong, Oude Waag, Yirantian…) | Yes — public runway presentations, free, registered through WeChat; hot shows vanish in seconds |
| Shanghai Fashion Weekend | The consumer arm: brand installations, pop-ups, workshops running for ~2 weeks around the week itself | Yes — mostly walk-up, free |
There’s also a trade layer (Ontimeshow, MODE and the showrooms along West Bund) — badge-only, but it explains why the city’s hotels fill with buyers and why the people-watching on Anfu Road gets spectacular that week.
Why it’s worth a visitor’s time
Fashion week transforms exactly the neighborhoods this site already sends you to: Xintiandi, the former French Concession, Suzhou Creek. Street style peaks, brand houses run their best activations, and the bistro streets turn into an open-air front row. Even with zero show tickets, the week is the best possible time to be in Shanghai for anyone who cares about clothes — pair it with the brand exhibitions map.
The access wall
Labelhood registration lives inside WeChat, drops with little notice, and sells out at Chinese internet speed. That’s a job for someone already holding the phone: tell KORA you want in, and we watch the schedule announcement, register you the moment slots open, and build your fashion-week days — shows, exhibitions, and the tables worth booking before the buyers take them.
