The must-go note sends its second day to Xunpu, the fishing village on Quanzhou's estuary where the women have always worn flowers — the zanhua wei 簪花围, a halo of fresh blossoms pinned around a bun, worn daily by the village's oyster-farming women long before a celebrity photo made it a national phenomenon. It's listed as national intangible cultural heritage, and trying it on is now the village economy.
The village itself is free to wander, and its architecture is the quieter marvel: oyster-shell houses 蚵壳厝, walls armoured in grey-white shells — cool in summer, salt-proof, and by tradition built from shells that came back as ship ballast on the old maritime trade routes. Studio after studio now dresses visitors in crowns and fisherwoman dress; the honest going rate is about ¥40.

Because it's a living tradition you can step into rather than watch — the grandmothers selling oysters by the temple wear the crowns better than any visitor, every day, for themselves. The notes' consistent warning: skip the touts at the village entrance offering "¥10 crowns" that balloon into ¥200 of add-ons; walk deeper in and pick an older studio with prices on the wall.
